The agreement between you and us: what you can do with StoryDirector, what you keep, and what you are responsible for.
Effective · operated by SMADA WORKS LLC
These terms are an agreement between you and SMADA WORKS LLC, which operates StoryDirector. By creating an account or using the service you accept them. If you are using StoryDirector for an organisation, you confirm you are authorised to accept these terms on its behalf.
You must be at least 13 years old to use StoryDirector. If you are under 18, you may use it only with the involvement of a parent or guardian who accepts these terms with you. You are responsible for the accuracy of what you tell us about your eligibility.
Keep your password confidential; activity under your account is your responsibility. Tell us promptly if you believe someone else has gained access to it. We may suspend or close an account that is being used in breach of these terms.
StoryDirector has a free tier and paid plans. Generating video, stitching a final cut and purchasing additional credits require a paid plan; the free tier gives you the story compilation and prompt tooling without dispatching generations. Paid plans include a monthly allowance and are billed through Stripe.
Generation is paid for in credits. Credits are consumed at the moment a generation is dispatched, not when it completes.
Generation runs on third-party models, and sometimes a job fails, is cancelled, or is superseded by a retry. In each of those cases the credits taken for that job are returned to your balance automatically. You do not need to ask, and the refund does not run twice for the same job.
A generation that completes is a generation you have used, even if the result is not what you hoped for. Model output varies by nature, and an unsatisfying result is not a failed one.
Beyond the automatic returns described in section 5, credits are non-refundable once purchased, including unused credits. You can cancel a subscription at any time: cancelling stops future renewals, and your access continues until the end of the period you have already paid for. We do not issue refunds for the unused remainder of a subscription period.
You keep ownership of what you bring and what you make. Your stories, your uploads and the direction and video you generate remain yours. We do not claim ownership of them.
To operate the service we need your permission to handle that material. You grant us a non-exclusive licence to host, store, transmit, transform and process your content, and to pass it to the third-party AI providers that perform analysis and generation, for the purpose of providing, securing and supporting StoryDirector. This licence exists so the product can function; it ends for new processing when you delete the content or your account, subject to the limits described in our Privacy Policy.
When you upload an image — a photograph, a set or location reference, or any other visual material — you confirm each time that you have the right to use it. That confirmation is recorded against the upload, along with the version of the text you agreed to.
By uploading, you represent that:
Identity references let a real person's appearance carry across generated shots. That is a capability that can be misused, so it carries specific rules.
Your confirmation is recorded per upload. We store the version of the consent text you accepted, the time, and your IP address at the moment of upload. That record is tied to that upload and is not retroactively editable. Removing or replacing an identity image clears it from your active project and records the removal; it does not erase the historical consent record, and it does not by itself reach into every downstream copy already produced.
A generated depiction is not participation. Generated content does not establish that a depicted person took part in, approved, endorsed, or said anything shown. You are responsible for any release, label, disclosure or authorisation needed before you use or distribute a result that depicts a real person.
Public figures are not an exception. A person being well known does not remove consent, publicity, trademark, defamation, election or other legal obligations. You may not use anyone's likeness to manufacture a false endorsement, a materially deceptive statement, targeted harassment, voter deception, or confusion about authentic media.
No minors. Do not upload identity material depicting a minor and do not use identity features to generate a recognisable minor. This applies even where a parent or guardian offers permission. Where age is uncertain we may remove content or restrict an account.
Submitting a film to the Creator Showcase is optional. When you submit one, it enters a review queue and our team approves or declines it before it appears publicly. By submitting, you grant us permission to display that film, its title, poster image and story text publicly on StoryDirector, attributed to your username, and to feature it in showcase listings.
You can unpublish a film at any time, which removes it from the public gallery. Publishing it again puts it back through review. Unpublishing does not retrieve copies that other people made or shared while it was public, and it does not affect our records of the submission. We may decline or remove a submission that breaches these terms.
You may not use StoryDirector to:
We may block a generation, remove content, preserve relevant records, restrict or terminate an account, and cooperate with valid legal process where we believe these rules have been broken. Report suspected misuse to support@storydirector.ai.
StoryDirector directs third-party generative models. Output can be inaccurate, unexpected, inconsistent, or simply not what you asked for, and the same input will not always produce the same result. You are responsible for reviewing what you generate before you rely on it or publish it.
We do not guarantee that any particular model, provider, feature or quality level will remain available. Providers change their models, pricing and availability, and we route around outages where we can. The service is provided on an as-available basis.
We may change, add or withdraw features as the product develops. You may stop using StoryDirector at any time and delete your account from your profile settings. We may suspend or terminate access for breach of these terms, for non-payment, or where required by law.
If a subscription lapses, your content is not deleted immediately — it moves through grace and retention periods before being archived, as described in our Privacy Policy.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, StoryDirector is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data or goodwill. Our total liability arising out of or relating to these terms or the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim.
You agree to indemnify us against claims arising from content you upload or generate, from your use of another person's likeness or intellectual property, and from your breach of these terms.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. The state and federal courts located in the State of New York have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or relating to these terms or the service.
We may update this document as the product changes. When we do, we revise the effective date shown above. If a change materially affects how we handle your information or what you agree to, we will give notice through the service or by email before it takes effect. Continuing to use StoryDirector after a change takes effect means the updated version applies to you.
